Charles V. Benson – Executive Director
Charles Benson is C0-Founder & Executive Director of A New Change in Direction, Inc. He grew up in Waco, Texas after moving from his hometown of Waxahachie, Texas in 1968. He graduated from Jefferson Moore High School in 1978, where he met his wife of 37 years, Mrs. Linda Majors – Benson who is also CO-Founder of A New Change in Direction, Inc. Charles has been co-pastor at Church Under the Bridge for 14 years. He has a passion for giving back and standing in the gap for those who are struggling in our community and in our city. Doing for others, what so many people in his life, have done for him.
Linda C. Benson – Assistant Executive Director
Linda Benson is Co-Founder & Assistant Executive Director of A New Change in Direction, Inc. She grew up in Waco, Texas after living for a time in Dallas Texas, and Houston Texas. She graduated from Jefferson Moore High School in 1978 in Waco, Texas where she met her husband of 37 years, Charles Benson. Linda has worked for Aramark Service at Baylor University for the last 37 years and counting. She has been a member of Church Under the Bridge for 14 years. She loves God and she has a heart for serving the homeless and low-income families wherever she finds them. She’s a soft-spoken individual, but her personality and her actions speak louder than words.
Victoria Shelton – President
Victoria resides in Waco, Texas where she is an innovative educator of 20 years. She began her career in early childhood, and now enjoys executing instructional content to expand young minds in socio-economic disadvantaged communities.
She grew up in a socio-economic disadvantage neighborhood herself and has a heart to serve. Since then, she has overcome adversities and has been determined to turn her pain into purpose.
She has obtained her associates degree in Criminal Justice from McLennan Community College in 2018, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University where she graduated in 2022.
She serves not because she is rich, but because she knows how it feels not to have.
Jason Harbert – Vice President
Jason Harbert is a native of Waco, Tx and a 1999 product of University High School. Jason is a car “Lover” who has a passion for anything with wheels. Jason and his wife Kimberly have had their own business since 2010 and have three children ages 24,14,and 3. Jason has achieved many obstacles in life, and he is a living witness that there is “A New Change In Direction”.
Kimberly Harbert – Secretary
Kimberly Clayburn-Harbert is a native of Waco, Tx and a 2000 graduate of Waco High School. Kimberly Attended Paul Quinn College, and McLennan Community College. Kimberly and her husband Jason have had their own business since 2010, and have Three children ages 24, 14, and 3. She believes Faith, and Hard-work surpasses all things. She also believes “If you do Good, Good will come to you”.
Terrance Shelton – Treasurer
Terrance was born and raised in Waco, Texas where he spends time serving the community and enjoying life with his wife and 2 sons.
He has served for 8 years on the Oversight and Budget Committe for a Department of Defense subcontractor.
He also serves as a pro bono consultant to the local community helping them gain a better understanding of the tax laws and assisting them with the filing of taxes.
Terrance’s interest with non-profits came from the impact he saw organizations make when the focus was people before profits.
